Boron granules are a solid particulate form of elemental boron, featuring high purity and strong stability. In nature, boron is mostly found in the form of compounds such as boric acid and borax. Boron granules are produced through industrial refining and processing, with particle sizes typically ranging from 1 mm to 5 mm. They have a regular shape, making them convenient for transportation and use.

ULPMAT offers high-purity boron granules for your research and production needs. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any inquiries.

Key Features & Advantages

High purity: Available in ≥99.5% or ≥99.9%

High melting point: ~2076 °C

High hardness: Mohs hardness ~9.3

Excellent chemical stability: Resistant to acids and alkalis at room temperature

Customizable particle size

Applications of boron granules

Metallurgical industry: Used as a deoxidizer and alloying additive to improve steel performance.

Electronics industry: Used in semiconductor fabrication, such as in silicon wafer doping processes, where boron atoms serve as P-type dopants at concentrations ranging from 10 to 10¹⁹ atoms/cm³ to precisely adjust conductivity.

Nuclear industry: Due to boron’s high neutron absorption cross-section, it is used in control rods and radiation shielding materials.

High-temperature materials: For manufacturing high-performance ceramics (e.g., boron carbide B₄C) and refractory materials.

Handling & Storage

Boron granules should be stored in a dry environment and kept isolated, as they can react with alkaline substances to form borates. Packaging is recommended to be double-layer polyethylene bags, stored in a warehouse with relative humidity below 40%, and segregated from oxidizing agents. Operators should wear N95 protective masks and nitrile gloves to avoid dust inhalation.

Appearance: Dark gray to black solid with metallic luster

Crystal structure: Atomic crystal, Mohs hardness 9.3 (second only to diamond)

Density: 2.34 g/cm³

Melting point: 2076 °C

Boiling point: 3927 °C

Electrical conductivity: Significantly increases at 500 °C, exhibiting semiconductor properties

Chemical stability: Does not react with oxygen or dilute acids at room temperature, but reacts vigorously with halogens and strong oxidizing agents

Inner packaging: Polyethylene (PE) bottle or double-layer antistatic polyethylene bags, vacuum sealed

Outer packaging: Carton box or iron drum with foam cushioning for shock protection

Standard package sizes: 1 kg/bottle, 5 kg/drum, 25 kg/drum (customization available upon request)

Handling notes: Packaging should be kept sealed, moisture-proof, and protected from mechanical impact. Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents.
